Ajaccio vs Lorient

Ajaccio is showing great fighting spirit in previous weeks, fighting spirit that might help them a lot surviving this season in Ligue 1. The Corsicans were at the bottom of the league for most of the season, but with positive results in previous weeks they are now looking like someone who might not even have relegation worries in last rounds of the championship. With a win over Marseille two weeks ago, at home 1:0 and 1:1 draw to Bordeaux on the road, Ajaccio have seen themselves on the 16th position with three points more than Nice and Soschaux which are on relegating places. It’s obvious that victory tonight would further their chances of staying in the league and this is surely something they will have in mind tonight. The team is unbeaten at home in previous six matches, making a record of four wins and only two draws, as they defeated names like Rennes and Marseille. Home side have no fresh injury worries in front of this clash.

 

Lorient, on the other hand, is placed four positions above their tonight’s rivals, but have also only one point more than them. They are coming of a 2:1 victory at home against Brest, which was their first win in almost four months, but they also know that their away games where much harder for them this season as they got only one victory in previous fourteen matches. Being on of the weakest “away sides” in league didn’t help them a lot in their relegation battle as they are only four points a clear from relegating positions. Guests are facing up against several problems for this game as they will be without goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte, but also without integral part of their defense – Wesley Lautoa and without striker Gilles Sunu who acted more as a substitute player till now.

 

Beating Brest is no special achievement, especially at home and it would be no surprise if Lorient goes back to their poor results once again, starting from this match as they are playing against in-form team and are without important central defender on the road where they already have more than poor record.
