Blackburn vs QPR

Here we have a straight forward case of a value bet.

 

QPR are a team with a new manager and a collection of skillful players who are in a false league position. I watched their match last week against Wolves and QPR were totally dominant until their star striker Djibril Cisse was sent off in the first half - with QPR leading 1-0. They ended up losing the match against a Wolves side who made the extra man count but the performance they put in was still very impressive with Adel Taarabt, Joey Barton and Anton Ferdinand all coming close to equalising once they had gone behind.

 

QPR are a team who are likely to score goals. They play in a free-flowing, creative manner with Taarabt, Zamora, Helguson, Barton and Cisse all likely to chip in with goals. While Cisse will be suspended for the weekend's match against Blackburn I still expect they will be too strong for the hosts.

 

Blackburn are, simply put, having a disaster of a season and - despite a couple of good results over Christmas against Manchester United and Liverpool - they are a side destined for relegation. The manager has fallen out with Chris Samba, the club's captain and most important player, which has left a serious hole at the back. While Samba may be back for this match the spirit around the club is not good and with the fans booing the team week in, week out the confidence around Ewood Park cannot be anything but low.

 

I don't see any result other than an Away win here if things go according to form. Blackburn conceded 7 against Arsenal and while it may not be quite as an emphatic pounding they receive this week - expect there to be a set of dejected Rovers players trudging off the field at full time.
