Tonight I am starting a new feature whereby I will make a selection on a number of baseball matches and will hopefully, across the board, make a profit.

The goal is of course 100% success but we are using good value odds and clever staking to ensure a profit, even without this flawless record.

Travelling team Cincinnati are having quite a season. They are second in the NLC and are six games ahead of their opponents today - the Houston Astros, who sit bottom of the division.

After beating the Chicago Cubs 2-0 on Sunday, they routed the Astros 6-1 yesterday in the first game of the series. Tonight the Reds will have Homer Bailey pitching. A young arm who recorded a win in his first start of the season, also against the Astros, last week. In that encounter Bailey allowed only one run and had seven strikeouts in the six innings he spent on the mound.

The Astros have simply been poor this season. They are on a three game losing streak (in contrast to the two wins of the Reds) and have a 7-10 negative record at home.

Look for hot bat Joey Votto to impress on his return to the line-up after sitting out last nights game.
