Premiership - Stoke City v Blackburn
Stoke sit in mid table at 12th on 26 points and they aren’t playing all that bad at all, 2 draws from their last 3 Fixtures is encouraging for them and at home they have lost only 1 of their last 5 Fixtures there but are unbeaten in their last 4 matches when playing at the Britannia Stadium, It has only just gone February but Stoke are yet to lose this decade winning 3 and drawing twice and that has to give the players confidence as they head into this match with Rovers today, the Potters have scored 10 goals to the good in their last 4 home matches while allowing 5 and that is why they are gaining points, they do enough to win or share the spoils in their most recent matches, anything but lose, so confidence should be good within the side, Personal wise and Diagne-Faye is in doubt for this match while Lawrence and Beattie are still unwanted by the manager, other good news is that Delap and Fuller could be back for the Potters in this match.
Rovers sit in 11th spot on the EPL Table and are 2 points above Stoke whom they face today, the last few results have been encouraging and they are unbeaten in their last 3 EPL matches picking up 2 wins and a draw, Away from home though and Rovers have only 2 points from their last 5 fixtures with some real big losses in a couple of those games but they seem to of come through that now and are in their matches, just not winning them ,last week was a classic example of that where they looked odds on to beat West Ham but just couldn’t and so left with a point after looking good to take all 3 for vast periods of the actual match itself, Personal wise and Dunn, Grella and Jacobsen are in doubt with Dunn being a big miss for Rovers.
Recent Results: Played 3, Stoke 1, Blackburn 1, Drawn 1…..Round 14, 28-Nov-2009 at Blackburn : Blackburn vs Stoke 0 - 0…..Round 33, 18-Apr-2009 at Stoke : Stoke vs Blackburn 1 - 0…..Round 18, 20-Dec-2008 at Blackburn : Blackburn vs Stoke 3 – 0
Stoke play well at home and are coming off 2 draws in their last 2 matches and a win and draw in their last two home matches with scoring seemingly being still a problem for them while Rovers have now earned results in 4 of their last 5 matches with 2 home wins and 2 drawn matches from their last 2 road games and I reckon they are going well enough to be in this game today, Rovers like Everton seem to go through phases of their season very much either up or down and right now they are on an upward trend for me and so this is another match where I think either side will come away from it with a share of the spoils….Good Luck.
