Premiership - Fulham v Portsmouth

On the face of it this game looks like a clear cut win to Fulham, But is it? I’ll say no it isn’t, not one bit, Fulham have looked lifeless in recent matches and although they face a Portsmouth Club in crisis we should also remember that these players are playing for their Professional Careers and so will give their all, Interesting match on the cards here and I reckon it could be headed for another draw….or a 2-0 win for Fulham based on recent results….

As great as Fulham were earlier in the season it is hard to find much goodness about them right now, they have not won a game since before Christmas and they haven’t scored an EPL Goal in their last 3 EPL Fixtures going down 2-0 to Villa in their last match, 2-0 to Spurs and 2-0 to Rovers and they even with a great record in defence conceded goals in the first half in all 3 of those matches and as well as 1 to Accrington in their FA Cup Match 3 games ago and they allowed 3 away to Stoke over the Christmas period before half time, Fulham do have a great home record though this season but still form wise and that counts for nothing as Villa showed last weekend, Personal wise and Davies and Johnson are in doubt while Konchesky, Dempsey and Paintsil are all still out.

Portsmouth have problems all over the show, in the Club rooms especially but for the players themselves that should not matter, regardless of what happens to the club itself the real fact is that a number of these Pompey Players are plying their wears in the EPL and will want to make an impression as their professional lives to a certain degree are at stake here, Last week against City they played well, they created chances and never took any but they did not look like a team who were just making up the numbers at all, they held City for vast periods in that match and really only a 10 min spell at the end of the First half let them down with a couple of lucky passes finding their way through to give City the 2 goals they needed to win, the performance itself really wasn’t as bad as the 2-0 scoreline might have suggested, however you can’t hide the fact that Portsmouth are now deep in the relegation zone and they have not scored a goal in their last 2 matches, Personal wise and O’Hara who came back last weekend looked great and his presence is good for Pompey fans while Diop and Brown remain out.

I am really not to gung ho on Fulham right now or Portsmouth but I do think this is a great chance for either side to do something about the situations that they find themselves in however it won’t be an easy match for either side, Fulham really did not look good against the Villains and haven’t for a while now while Portsmouth even in losing looked like they were trying very hard against City and so I’m thinking that 2-0, 1-1 are likely scores here and therefore I’ll go with the Total goals in this match being 2-3….Good Luck.
