Darts Tournament - Newton v Osbourne
After Wes Newton overcame the odds yesterday to land a decent priced 2.62 shot with an 8-7 win over Ronnie Baxter im going to put my faith in him again today in his quarter final match Vs Colin Osbourne and odds of 2.75. Newton played very well in beating Baxter in the final match of yesterdays afternoon session and despite missing darts for the match at 7-5 and letting Baxter get back to 7-7 showed great nerve and bottle to hold his throw and earn his Q/F berth. A 3dart average of 93.88 is decent enough and despite only hitting 2 180s he did manage 10 140s on route. The only low point is probably that he was broken 4 times in the match, but still he did manage 4 breaks himself too.
Colin Osbourne beat Michael Van Gerwen with relative ease in there match in the evening session 8 legs to 2. In truth Van Gerwen never really found his feet in the match nad overall it was probably one of the poorer last 16 matches i watched yesterday. Osbourne managed 3 180s over the 10 legs and finished with a 3dart average of 90.98, Which is a couple of points lower than Newton and Newton was on stage for longer.
Osbourne is a more than capable player on his day but im not so sure he justifies his odds of 1.45 favourite in this match when you could easily have them priced up at 1.90 the pair. 2.75 is a more than generous price on Newton to progress to the Semi Final in a match that i could argue he should be favourite in. Im happy to back him at that price, especially as yesterdays victory was the final part of an 80/1 5bet accer for me!!!
