Premiership - Sunderland v Stoke City
Man how Sunderland’s season has changed, at the beginning of this season they looked like a tremendous team with talent in their ranks and goals no problem at all, however after the 2-0 loss to Everton they have fallen well down the pecking order and sit in 13th spot on the EPL Table and are actually even though it’s hard to believe sitting on the cusp of the Relegation zone only just above the teams below them, They are win-less in their last 5 matches with 3 losses and 2 draws, the Goal tally against in their last 5 is more cause for concern with them allowing 16 goals and scoring 10 of their own, However they have in their last 3 matches allowed 11 goals to only 4 of their own, Personal wise and Cattermole and Richardson are in doubt as are Nosworthy, Mensah and McCarthy while Turner and Ferdinand are still both out.
Stoke come here to the Stadium of Light feeling good about themselves after drawing with Liverpool at home in their last EPL match and a morale boosting game against the Gunners which sees them advance to the next round of the FA Cup, Stoke sit in 12th spot on the EPL Table and their good results at home are doing enough to keep them safe, However their away form is not as flash with them winning only 1 of their 10 away matches this season, losing 5 and drawing 4 whilst scoring only 4 and conceding 13, Stoke have lost their last 2 away matches against Man City 2-0 and Villa 1-0 but do crowd the box and can make life tough for opponents scoring wise which could help them today against a Cats side who should be feeling a bit down on confidence, Personal wise and things are looking good for the Potters with Captain Diagne – Faye back for this match and Diao also back.

Sunderland still have a very good looking side but results are not good and that has to affecting them somewhat no matter how good they look on paper, they are at least scoring goals and had scored in their previous 4 matches before being held Goalless in the match against Everton, On the other side Stoke are not fancied away from home but as I said they do look a lot harder to break down than many are giving them credit for and I’m thinking that after a draw against the Reds and a great game against the Gunners that they should feel good about themselves and I’m picking that they might just earn a point from this match against a struggling Cats Outfit….Good Luck.
