NBA - Phoenix Suns v Dallas Mavericks
The Suns are on a bad run, they have now lost 7 of their last 9 and the way they are losing is just not good, In their last 2 games they have led by double figures against the Bobcats and Jazz and yet have found new ways to lose, Not having Barbosa is hardly helping them and Hill being hurt isn’t either, Tonight they are the late game and are on TNT which again is hardly good for them as they have lost more than 10 of their last games broadcast on TNT on Thursday Nights, that aside this run for the Suns is getting worse against the Jazz they made 17 3 pointers, in their last game against the Bobcats they hit 15 and yet still lost either game, The Suns live and die with the 3 point shot and do have some great shooters, but with Barbosa out and others like Richardson and even Nash in this latest run of games having to carry the load more it is a hard go for them, The Suns are 32 for 64 from long range over their last two games which is great shooting but the problem is that they are giving up an average of 113.8 points in this losing run of matches, Hard to win when you rely on the 3 and don’t play much if any defence now is it?
Dallas is 30-15 and are only 1 game behind the Nuggets in the Western Conference, they have had their highs and lows this season, but mainly their highs have come away from home where the Mavs are 16-8 and 15-9 ATS, Amazingly backing the Mavs ATS at home has hardly been good even with their good play as the Mavs who for the last few seasons were unbeatable at home still have a winning record but ATS they cannot be counted on, however on the road the Mavs are going great this season and like tonight in this match they are again on the road and again underdogs a situation where the Mavs have excelled on their season with a record of 8-2 on the road when considered Dogs by the Bookies, The Mavs are in their games and that’s always a good sign, they do have a great defence when they call upon it, they can come from behind well and have a fairly solid roster led well by Dirk, the closeness of their games and record is promising for tonight against a Suns side struggling to find form, The Mavs are 13-4 in games decided by five points or fewer this season.
The Mavs are 6-4 in their last 10 against the Suns and are 4-5-1 ATS in those most recent 10 meetings between these two Western Conference Powerhouses, In the last 5 played at the Suns the Mavs have won 2 of their last 3, but of their last 5 played there they have won only those 2 matches while taking losses in the other 3 meetings.
The Total situation is 7-3 on the overs and is 4-1 in the last 5 played in Phoenix.
I like the Total but I think there are enough reasons to back the Mavs to win this game outright, the Suns are a strong offensive side but defence is still a major problem for them while the Mavs are a good scoring side and can play hard defence when called upon to do so, The Suns have not had a 50% shooting night in their last 4 matches while the Mavs have just finished their last 2 games hitting from the field at 51% against the Bucks and in their last road game against the Knicks at 58%, the last 2 matches for the Mavs have also seen them go well from the outside hitting 22 3 points shots in their last 2 matches.
I’m looking for the Mavs to get up here, the start on them is at 3 points and that might be the better option, but the odds for me on them here and the situation that either side is in right now is just to big to ignore, So I’m looking for the Mavs to get up here against an Injury and out of whack Suns side…..Good Luck.
