Hockey Various - Czech Republic v Sweden
(Italy - Serie A)
Cotta Morandini Arena will host tonight, let's say, a crucial game between Vapellice Bulldogs and Cortina. I say crucial because if they want to grab a playoff spot at the end of the regular season, one of this two teams must win this meeting.
The Bulldogs are 8th in Serie A, with two points above Cortina, having a 7-15 balance, winning three games at home and four on road. They are coming after a big win in Palaonda Arena against the champions, Bolzano, 5:3, in a game in wich Andrea Rivoira made 33 saves to maintain Valpellice Bulldogs in the game. Most likely, after Luciano Aquino's comeback after injury, Valpellice Bulldogs' first line will look like this: Craig Kowalski - Kari Haakana - Luciano Aquino.
As I said in my previous comment about Cortina, they can't find their momentum at this moment, losing game after game and being last in the stands. They are now on a four games without a single point and are coming after a huge loss, 2:6 against Pustertal Wölfe. Cortina outshot 45-39 Pustertal Wölfe, but they scored only two goals, having in front of them Jeffrey Jakaitis that made 43 saves for the Wölfe. Cameron Keith (6+13) is listed as day-to-day for Cortina, so this team will be led on the ice by the couple Cullen – Krestanovich, supported by Watson, De Bettin and Souza.
I don't think Cortina is favourite here, as Valpellice Bulldogs are a team that will benefit from their fans support and their home ground. They have made some great games this season when they were underdogs, winning three times against Bolzano and playing solid against Pustertal Wölfe, Asiago or Fassa. In the previous meeting here in Cotta Morandini Arena, Valpellice Bulldogs won 8:5 and I am expecting the same outcome today.
