Friday night sees the opening matches of this years PDC World Darts Championships, Im on my works do that night so probably wont be getting involved, Im am however going to Ally Pally for the afternoon session on the Saturday and this pick is one i will get to watch in person.

After the draw was made i was keen to see how the bookies might price up the Komula Vs Konchikov match, I was even more pleased when the schedule was made and i get the watch this Preliminary match. One one bookies has so far priced it up and i must abmit i was a little bit surprised and pleased with the outcome. Konchikov @4.0 will do for me and im happy to take the early price although i will be looking to see if anyone else decides to price him a bit higher. But why???

Roman Konchikov i will admit isnt a name i had heard of before the draw and it has taken me and it took a 'google' search to find out more about the player!!! What i did already know it that he came through the Russian qualifiers to get to Ally Pally. Konchikov made light work of his first two opponents with 6-1 wins over both players, In his Semi he won 7-4 and in the Final he won 7-3, Now the interesing part is who he beat in the final, none other than Russian No.1 lady Anastasia Dobromyslova, That result alone tells me Konchikov knows his was around a darts board. Not that long ago Dobromyslova proved her ability at the GSOD with a 5-4 win over Vincent Van Der Voort.

I can probably see why Jarkko Komula comes into this match as the favourite but at 1.20 i wouldnt be putting my hard earnt on him to win, Ok Komula has a wealth of experience having played in some big tournaments against some big players but his career has never really taken off despite his all of this, The Preliminary round is a short sprint and that gives everyone a fighting chance if they hold there own legs. Konchikov on all know form isnt a 4.0 shot in this match and im going to be backing him and hoping the Russian debutant can spring a surprise in the opening Saturday match.
