Kontinental League - Vityaz Chekhov v CSKA Moscow
Vityaz Chekhov is, by far, the worst team playing in KHL this season. Their pre-season was miserable and the regular season, too, Vityaz being last in the stands with only 27 points. So, this means a negative balance, ofcourse, Vityaz Chekhov winning only eight meetings out of 30. Results you can't be proud of so the owners made some changes in the staff. Mike Krushelnyski was fired from Vityaz and he was replaced by Alexey Yarushkin two days ago, after Vityaz Chekhov was thrashed at home by Metallurg Magnitogorsk, 0:4. They are now on a five games in a row without a win and it will be interesting how the team will react to this change in their staff.
It seems that CSKA found their momentum after the arrivals of Albert Leschev and Nikita Filatov. They came in Moscow a couple of weeks ago and the results started to appear, CSKA winning six games out of eight with Leschev and Filatov on the ice. Sergei Nemchinov's team is coming after two consecutive wins, 2:1 against Avtomobilist and 4:2 against Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod, games in wich CSKA showed lots of improvements.
Chris Simon, Vityaz's leader, is missing from a while and, in my opinion, without him, they can't cope with the other teams in KHL, the team's last results showing this.
Today on Ice Hockey Center 2004 will come a team that is in a big hunger for points and I think that CSKA will win this. But it won't be easy, having in mind that Vityaz's players will fight for their pride, will fight for their place in the team and will fight to impress Alexey Yarushkin on his first game in Chekhov. However, CSKA to win is my call for this one.
