Rugby Union - Italy v Manu Samoa
Italian captain Sergio Parisse will miss Saturday's Test against Samoa in Ascoli, after being injured during training With Parisse the Italians will play Josh Sole at flank with Alessandro Zanni moving to No.8. In good news for the Azzuri though Backs Kaine Robertson, Gonzalo Canale and Tito Tebaldi as well as forwards Mauro Bergamasco and Leonardo Ghiraldini were all restored to the starting line-up having been dropped against South Africa. While Hooker Ghiraldini will also take over the captain's armband. Italians Coach Mallett has included one uncapped player, Rovigo back Riccardo Bocchino, on the bench while Antonio Pavanello will also be on the bench following Sole's promotion to the starting XV. Italy are trying to end a 13-match losing streak.
No Samoan news as yet, It doesn’t matter to me, I’ve made my mind up already.
These two sides have played only 3 times with the Italians yet to win a game, the last time they met was in 2001 in Italy where Samoa ran out 17-9 winners, the other 2 matches were both big Samoa wins, One in Samoa in 200 43-24 and the other was again in Italy in 95 where Samoa trounced them 18-42.
The Italians might have a bad record against Samoa and have lost to both the All Blacks and Springboks but they have gone well and Samoa against either of those sides would of lost by more than the Italians did in either match, I’m prepared to give this game to Italy even without seeing the Samoans line up which will likely be much the same as the side named who lost narrowly a couple of weeks ago, the Italians will have to show up but they have been and so I expect them to do well here and kick away to win the game late…Good Luck.
