Serie A - Atalanta v Roma

The 4th of October played Roma Napoli at the Stadio Olimpico. In the same moment as Franceso Totti fired the shot that was going to be the winning goal and his second of the day, he hurt his knee. The knee injury he sustained forced him to five weeks of involuntary rest. Last Sunday he was back at the Olimpico when Roma was playing Bari. Roma won 3-1 and Francesco Totti scored all three goals in less than thirty minutes. During the five games he was out Roma grabbed only four points. Losing to Milan, Udinese and Livorno. The importance he has for the team can not be overemphasised. He is now tied top scorer with Di Natale, having scored nine goals in eight matches. Roma have had major injury problems all season, but things are starting to look a lot better for the Romans. The only one who will not make the trip to Bergamo is Daniele De Rossi, who is out with a fractured cheek bone. Brazilian international Juan looks set to start after being out for two months and this is a real boost for Roma.

Atalanta campaign so far has been very much up and down. They entered last weekends game at Siena with three consecutive losses, but came out of that one with a 2-0 win. On Wednesday, Coach Conte had imagined that it would continue on the winning track when they met Serie C team Lumezzane in the Coppa Italia. They lost out 1-0, despite a strong team and playing at home. On the injury list this weekend is Valdes, Manfredini and Barreto. The center back Peluso is suspended. I do not think Atalanta will come out of this game with a result. Roma have begun to climb the table and will not allow Atalanta to stop them.
