Rugby Union - France v All Blacks
France are going great, Can they topple the All Blacks as well as the Springboks??
France have made changes to the their team from last weekend, with Traille returning to fullback and Dupuy back at scrumhalf , Traille, was tremendous in France’s 20-13 win over South Africa a fortnight ago and gets the fullback spot back from Medard, who moves out to the left wing. The side has seven changes from the win against the Springboks, with centres Jauzion and Marty, lock Chabal and prop Marconnet retaining their spots after looking very good against the Samoans last weekend, France won 43-5. France though have a number of knocks and will be without the services of Mermoz, Harinordoquy and Picamoles who have all been ruled out because of injury., All 3 players were in the side who beat the Springboks 2 weekends ago. Dupuy grabs the scrumhalf spot, while very good flank Ouedraogo, who was injured, comes straight into the starting line-up, replacing Lapandry., while Heymans, David, Nallet and Mas drop to the bench. This could be a great International season for the French should they win this match, however the AB side they faced and beat in New Zealand earlier in the year is quite different from the one they will face today. But France has a great history of beating us in games when they shouldn’t, however they also have a record of falling to the All Blacks when they do seem to have things going in their favour.
All Blacks coach Henry has made three changes to his team for this weekends match, Tialata is in for Owen Franks at tight head prop, while Kaino replaces Thompson at blindside flank and Guildford is replaced by Cory Jane on the right wing.Other changes to the squad that beat England 19-6 last week sees Flynn named as replacement hooker with Latimer as loose forward reserve. While McAlister is named alongside Ellis and Donald as the third backs substitute. McCaw is to play at open side flank, while Muliaina will become the second most capped All Black of all time when he wins his 82nd cap. McCaw plays his 80th Test. The All Blacks have notched up two Grand Slams over their last four years of touring and are very proud of what they have achieved . Other sides have tried and have failed. Which shows just how hard it is to achieve that, The All Blacks could be excused for being a bit flat today after playing non stop since February and are backing up for their 5th test in as many weekends, But this is the last and biggest game for many of them and they should perform well.
France and the All Blacks have met in 48 matches with the French winning only 12 of those games, they did come here earlier this year though and win and have won 2 of their last 3 against the All Blacks including knocking them out of the 07 World Cup, However the All Blacks have won 3 of their last 4 in France and are unbeaten there in their last 4 matches with the other game ending in a 20-20 draw, Interestingly enough for Kiwis who can remember that draw came on the same day as the NZ Kiwis Rugby League side drew in England with Australia at the 2002 World Cup held in England, I don’t know why I brought that up I just remembered it now and wrote it.
France have beaten the Boks and cruised to a win over the Samoans last weekend but the All Black side they face today is far different from the one they beat in NZ earlier in the year the players who remain from those games are Mulliaina, Jane, Nonu, Read, Thron, Kaino, Cowan and Woodcock, while missing for them was McCaw, Carter, Sivivatu, Donneley and Hore, France escaped the first game with a win 27-22 thanks to Donald throwing an intercept, while the 2nd game the AB’s won 14-10 and could of scored more points had they been more accurate, the biggest names missing by far were Mc’Caw and Carter and with Carter leading the All Blacks ship even with France playing well I really think they are up against it, France beat us at the WC and this side have not forgotten about that, they are still complaining about not scoring enough points on this tour and as it is the last test for these guys for the Season and they will want to atone for the Series loss here earlier in the year I really like the All Blacks to win this game, I’m not sure by how many although 12 or less is likely as France are going well, The Tab here are offering a start of -3.0 which I think could be covered, but surely, Surely France are playing well enough to keep this game close and so I’ll take the All Blacks by 12 or less…Good Luck….Thanks for continuing to come along even though I have been shit, Cheers I appreciated it.
