Taylor Vs Van Barneveld

For the first 15 minutes or so i felt that Barney had a chance in this match, He was scoring well and earning darts to break the Taylor throw, He didnt take as many as he should of early on and after the opening 2 sessions found himself as good as out of it, The rest of the match Barney looked uninterested and looked like he couldnt wait to get off the stage, A 16-6 defeat was the final outcome as Taylor powered his was into tonights final. Over 22 legs of darts Taylor averaged 106.11 which included 28 140+s (6 180s 22 140s) If can averages anything around this mark in the final he should win at a canter.

Waites Vs Jenkins

Waites has been the surprise package at the Grand Slam this year but played some pretty good and gritty darts to get to the final, His Semi was of a decent standard and Waites too out some crucial finishes when needed and although Jenkins kept on his heels he never really recovered from losing 4-1 in the opening session, Jenkins did recover and at one stage had the throw at 11-11 but Waites didnt flap and dug deep to break and then went on to dominate as Jenkins failed to hit his doubles running out 16-11 in the end

Waites has really had to dig deep this week and although in a major final must be feeling a little bit drained and buzzing also, the prospect of meeting Taylor should put some nerves in his belly too. Taylor has been there seen it and got the t-shirt. So often have we seen one sided affairs in finals where Taylor is concerned and im expecting that tonight, Waites had done remarkably well to get to the final but i feel this is a bridge too far for him. Waites need a good start to stand any chance, If he doesnt then Taylor will really put him to the sword and take another easy title.

Having said all this though i think the bookies have got the market slightly wrong on the hanidicap, Waites could and should hold his throw enough times to win 8 legs tonight, and although a 16-8 defeat would seem like a stuffing it would be good enough to land the handicap of Waites +8.5 so am playing and hoping he battles hard.
