Its certainly not the final many expected at the start of this tournament with an unseeded player meeting the lowest seed, But never the less both these girls deserve to be here and it promises to be an interesting final.

I'll start by saying im a little suprised that Govortsova is as big as 2.75 to win this final and as big as 5.50 to win in straight sets, Although that said, she has been the outsider in the previous 3 rounds so i would let that put anyone off backing her here. Govortsova freely admits she started slowly in this tournament but after coming through her opening match in 3 sets says she is now playing her best tennis of the season (just as its ending) and it difficult to argue against that with 3 very good wins over Martinez Sanchez 6-1 6-4, Dushevina 6-3 6-0 and Kleybanova 6-2 6-1, who herself had previously beaten Jankovic in straight sets. I didnt watch this semi final but her stats stand up very well and she offered up only 3 BPs in the entire match and broke her opponent 6 times.

Schiavone reached the final with wins against Llagostera Vives 6-7 6-4 6-3, Niculesu 6-2 7-5, Kirilenko 6-3 6-2 and Alona Bondarenko 6-4 6-0, I watched the Bondarenko match and to be honest wasnt overly impressed with the performance, Her serve wasnt great and although the won comfortably Bondarenko pretty much rolled over in the end. I may be doing Schiavone an injustice here but she will probably need to play better to win the final.

The Head to Head between these 2 reads 1-1 at the moment with both matches being played this year. My biggest worry about backing the favourite (Schiavone) here is her record in finals, i think it reads just 1 win from 10 finals so maybe that could play on her mind a little. I certainly dont see any value in her at around 1.50

The value in this final is certainly with Govortsova and i will be backing her to win in the hope it gets my sunday morning off to a winning start.
