Though the Niners finally won last weekend they will be focused on getting their running game on track without Gore as they host Ryan and his Falcons.
San Francisco has had a strong first month, Despite an offense that is 28th with 264.0 yards per game, they lead the NFC West and are off to their best start since winning four of their first five in 02. Singletary wants his team to play tough defense and have a strong running game, the defence is there but Gore isn’t, Gore suffered an ankle injury and won't be back until after next week's bye at the earliest. The 49ers averaged 77.0 yards rushing in two games after Gore was hurt. So again Coffee Rookie RV needs to step up to take advantage of a Falcons defense that has allowed a total of 312 yards rushing in its last two games. Though they were shut out in the first half the 49ers got two TDs from its defense and another from special teams in a 35-0 victory over St. Louis last Sunday, The 49ers will again build their gameplan around rookie RB Coffee with Gore still out. San Francisco will focus its running game between the tackles, where the Falcons are thin defensively. The Falcons' 92.3 rushing yards per game this season is 60.4 fewer than in 2008 while for those who are supersticious …49ers QB Shaun Hill is 7-0 as a starter at home.
Ryan seems to be improving with Atlanta off to a 2-1 start this year. Ryan has taken advantage of opponents shutting down the Falcons' running game , posting a 100.4 passer rating and throwing five TDs while getting picked off once. While Ryan has played well in the early going, opponents have had success in limiting Atlanta's ground game. The Falcons come off their bye ranked 23rd in the league with 92.3 rushing yards per game after averaging 152.7 last season. Turner last season ranked second in the NFL with 1,699 yards as well as setting a team record with 17 rushing touchdowns but is averaging 75.3 yards this season and that needs to get better for the falcons to be a better side, they get some good news with Norwood expected to play after he suffered a concussion the previous week against Carolina, which is great for the Falcon’s as he is an important part of Atlanta's offense, complementing Turner with his speed. Atlanta needs more out of White, who is among the highest paid in the league at his position but is averaging 7.9 yards on 15 receptions. While tight end Gonzalez has been solid, catching 13 passes for a team-high 160 yards so the Falcons need White to give their passing game a more dynamic element.
Recent Results: This is the 73rd regular-season meeting between these two with The 49ers leading the series 44-27-1, as well as winning in three of the past four meetings. There were four interceptions and no TDs thrown by Atlanta and San Francisco in their last meeting, with the Falcons winning 20-16 at home Nov. 4, 2007.
The 49ers Defence is standing up to the team they are facing and are yet to allow over 100 yards rushing in all 4 games to date this season and are facing a Falcons RB duo who are not making enough inroads to get the Falcons over the line with their only 100+ rushing game coming against the Panthers 2 games ago, apart from that they have been held to under 100 yards in their other games this season and with Ryan not throwing to much that should be a factor in this match up.
The 49ers are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 against the Falcons and at home have won 3 of their last 4 against this Falcons outfit, I really like how they are playing and they are in each of their games giving themselves a chance to win them which is a great sign for them after the last few losing seasons, Even without Gore they should be good enough to restrict the Falcons and get a few scores to take this game out, the 2.5 is good for us I reckon and so we’ll take that and look for the 49ers to carry on here and win again….Good Luck.
