Aintree - Race 3 v Race Winner

The Goodwood Cup doesn’t look a vintage renewal by any means, and there must be a chance Tungsten Strike will bounce back to his best, especially if he gets an uncontested lead, as seems possible (there are a couple of horses with a history of maiing the running in the race, but they have been held up in recent starts). Tungsten Strike goes well at Goodwood (career form figures 3736121) and only Yeats was able to pass him albeit readily in this race last year, after which he won the March Stakes for the second year in a row. Amanda Perrett had a Gooodwood winner yesterday with Classic Vintage and for a long time Tottie looked likely to make it a double, and the stable in general looks in better form bow than it was when Tungsten Strike was last seen at the end of May (Perrett had only one winner in each of May and June). It’s encouraging to see quotes from the trainer stating that this race has been Tungsten Strike’s target all year and he looks well worth chancing.
Dangers are of course the favourite Schiaparelli, but with doubts over the ground and ability to stay, he is passed over at 2/1. Askar Tau is interesting on his reappearance now his stable is back in form, but 5/1 is short enough.
