The Ashes 2009 - England v Australia

As you would expect with such a high profile sporting event in this country, there has been a plethora of bets to tempt the punter on various outcomes of the matches.

You can bet on the outcome of the first delivery and even whether the groundsman has done a good job on the Cardiff pitch ( the bet is that the game is moved from there due to a poor pitch )

However I believe that I have sorted out a couple of gems here.

First up is the ground with the most runs to be Cardiff.

This is actually the outsider of 5 and at a best price of 12.0 with Totesport, it easily outshines Ladbrokes offering of only 8.0. I wrote yesterday when I predicted the first test draw that Cardiff will be a run fest, and which ever captain is lucky enough to win the toss will obviously bat first and look to pile on 5 or 600 runs and attempt to take 20 wickets to win. As I believe this to be the case, I think at the advertised odds Cardiff to be ground with the most runs scored a value bet.

Second up is again what I believe to be a value bet and that is Andrew Strauss (EACH WAY) to have the highest individual score.

Strauss being captain and opener will undoubtedly be called upon at some stage over the 5 tests to make a big captains innings, just in the mould of an Atherton or Brearley, and i'm backing him to make it. From all the reports i've read and listened too Strauss really does have the dressing room on his side and is more than capable of playing the big innings when it matters, or even carrying his bat through an entire innings and letting the playmakers like KP and Bopara do their stuff.

4 points EACH WAY (8 points in total) Andrew Strauss to have the highest individual score in the series @ 10.0 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3 with Stan James
