Tour De France - Bert Grabsch v Heinrich Haussler
Bert Grabsch vs Heinrich Haussler
Odd matchup for a timetrial this, Haussler a sprinter matched up against the current world time trial champion Bert Grabsch in a short time trial stage.
Sprinters have shown in the past they can ride the prologue stage of the tour very well perhaps most notably Thor Hushovd. However Haussler does not really have Hushovds power and to the best of my knowledge does not have any form in time trials at all.
Bert Grabsch meanwhile is a 2 time German time trial champion and also the current world champion. Admittedly a short time trial is not going to be ideal but by the same measure you do not win the time trial world title without having an excellent riding position and being very effective at riding against the clock.
I had a look back at the 2007 prologue and Grabsch defeated Haussler by 7 seconds (might not sound a lot but its a decent margin during a stage that lasts less than 9 minutes).
To highlight the gulf in class between these two Grabsch is 34.0 to win the stage, Haussler has only been priced up by one bookmaker i could find with the dismissive odds of 301.0.
1.75 on Grabsch seems too good to miss.
