Rugby Union - Australia v Italy
The Wallabies opened their International season with a big won over what was a pretty handy Barbarians side last week and scored 50 points, the real thing about that game was that the Barbarians appeared to be trying while the Wallabies appeared to take their feet off the gas and still were far to good for them, now this week they face the Azzurri or Italians and this game could get very messy indeed.
The Wallabies open their true International season in Canberra and so the Brumbie Faithful will get to see their new boy Giteau in action well before next seasons S14 begins and running through this Australian side and based on that and what they served up last weekend another 50 point haul could easily be on the cards tonight, with a backline with the likes of Giteau,Turner and Mortlock and a forward pack with such stalwarts as Smith,Sharpe and Baxter and new boys with limited experience but loads of talent in Burgess,Brown,Mumm and Robinson the Wallibies will be hard to put away this International season and with Deans heading the Wallibie ship they appear to be getting better and will only improve more with him in charge of the reins there.
The Italians are looking to get off to a good start here in this match and because they then have to come here to play the All Blacks
The Italians did not have a good 6 Nations and looking through this side could have a disastrous tour down under over the next few weeks, they are missing a host of front line players including Prop Castrogiovanni,Fullback Marcato, scrum half Piccone,Hooker Festuccia and Masi which are all huge losses , you also have to wonder how the Italians fell about fielding so many players that are not actually from there and by far the biggest reason for the Australian and Rugby League followers to look forward to this game is the inclusion of Craig Gower the Ex Penrith Panther who is to make his debut for the Italians tonight at fly half..a very strange looking Italian side for this first up test against a Wallabies side hell bent on winning and winning well.
The Italians almost upset the Wallabies last year in Italy with the Wallabies running them down late to take the Victory, however this time around and the Wallabies should have far to much for them and a win by more than 30 is likely on the cards...Can the Wallabies score another 50 points this week? Don't bet against it...Good Luck.
