Super 14 - Blue Bulls v Waikato Cheifs

The S14 finally comes to a finish today as the Bulls host the Chiefs in what should be a great game.

The Bulls got by the Crusaders last week in great fashion but the Crusaders really shot themselves in the foot not by going up 20-7 but in the way they played,they played well in the opening 20mins but I knew they were in trouble because the Crusaders are a far better side in close games and the opening 20 mins of that game against the Crusaders last week for the Bulls was what sparked them into action,I favour the Crusaders because they have the pedigree but only f they play to their strengths and last week they went right away from that and allowed the game to turn into an open affair which was never going to work for them and as such the Bulls come back was never in doubt and they went on to win easily which will have them in a great frame of mind entering this match today, The Bulls have won their last 5 games and done so against some great teams ,they have looked good but I still don't like them,I have to give them credit for what they have achieved and how they have finished their season,their win last weekend was good for a number of reasons ,the fight back was great their forward pay was superb and their back line defence looked very strong,they have won their last 4 at home against the Chiefs every game has been close with the Bulls winning those games all by 12 points or less,in fact the biggest winning margin in those games has been 6 points which was the last game the other 3 have all been won by the Bulls by 3 points.

The Chiefs travel to Pretoria looking to get a win in their first ever S14 final but the odds are stacked against them rather heavily,Sivivatu is now out and Kahui comes back into the Centres but the status of Leonard is still uncertain and is likely out as well,the Chiefs will get the pleasure of having a hard track there to try their wears on but really the fate of the Chiefs lies within themselves and with their loosies who are the equal of what the Bulls have to offer but the brains department and home ground is just not in their favour and the loss of Sivivatu is just to huge to ignore as he has been a real spark for them in recent games,in fact the Chiefs only loss in their last 11 games came here in Pretoria as they fell to the Bulls in Rd 10 33-27,the Chiefs have exceeded all expectations this season and deserve their place in this Finals game but the lack of personal could really hurt them,they have though been close in all their games this season and in the final they likely will be as well.

Big Parties in the Waikato this weekend of which I will be attending a few of them,the whiskey and Beer will be flowing but I'll only be smoking weed as it is harvest time here and i have been selling and smoking my lungs out as I normally do at this time of the year with so much around and I'm kind of sick of drinking now anyway,most of the Waikato will be up watching this game as it is on early Sunday morning hours for us so a hard night awaits us all who will be looking forward to watching this game,however we better all drink and smoke a lot because I don't think the Chiefs can win this game although it would be great if they could it is hard to see it happening,I do though expect the Chiefs to make a real game of it and it won't be a one sided affair but the 50,000 Bulls fans waving their flags should get their team over the line and I expect the Bulls to get up here and be the 2009 S14 Champions after a close hard fought game...Good Luck.
