Aintree - Race Winner v Race Winner
I am having a very large bet on this race and I have him also in a large double of which the first leg has already won.
This wonderfully named horse is probably the best novice chaser in training as he has finished 2nd 3 times in grade 1 races over varying trips and won the Arkle at Cheltenham where he just edged out Kalahari King. This horse went on to win handsomely at Aintree during the National festival and the form is rock solid.
He is a course and distance winner here which is important as Punchestown can often undo certain horses with its rare undulations.
He jumps superbly and loves a strongly run race. Everything is in his favour tonight and i am very confident he will win.
Second favourite is the Paul Nicholls trained Tatenen who I backed at Cheltenham, but he fell early on, he was also 8 lengths second to Kalahari King at Aintree, and he has also been beaten over in Ireland before when he was favourite. Paul Nicholls doesn't sound overly confident about his chances, so he is passed over.
Ruby Walsh opts to ride Deutschland for his father, but he has been let down by his jumping on occasions, and that is enough for me to draw a line through him as jumping will need to be 100% in this speed contest and Punchestown has the highest fall ratio in novice chases in the UK.
The other Willie Mullins horse Barker just isn't good enough, has fallen before and probably needs further.
Made in Taipan was 4th behind the tip at Cheltenham and then 3rd behind Kalahari King at Aintree and therefore not good enough.
Forpady for the money !!
