Blue SQ Premier - York v Kettering
Sounds a bit basic I know, but let's look at some history.
York have gone under in their last 6 games, and have failed to score at all in 3 of them. They have mustered just 22 goals at KitKat crescent all season, and have gone under in 62% of all games there this season with 1-1 happening 4 times.
Kettering are a side that must be knackered due to their magnificent cup exploits in seemingly every piece of silverware they could enter. They have played 3 games a week for the past fortnight now, and the players must be simply going through the motions now, even though most professionals will tell you that they prefer to play rather than train. They did well enough on Saturday to beat new whipping boys Weymouth, but they struggled to win that 2-0 and they are better placed on their 2-1 home defeat to Oxford last week, as to where they are as a team right now. In fact if you take out that Oxford result, Kettering have gone under in their last 5 games, and that included a game against the other whipping boys in the league, Lewes.
All in all I see this as a low scoring affair. If you want me to tip a winner, then i would shade towards a possible York victory as they will be full of confidence after their FA trophy semi final win at the weekend against Telford which guarantees a Wembley date against high flying Stevenage. But I seem to find that teams can come out after the euphoria of reaching a final and then under perform back in the humdrum world of league football. York need to win to see off relegation, and Kettering need to win to keep alive any hopes of reaching the playoffs.
I can see few goals here tonight.
