Championship - Bristol City v Barnsley
31 January 2009
Gary Johnson targeted the forthcoming 5 matches in 19 days as key to what City could achieve this season, It would decide whether City were play off hopefuls, mid tablers or relegation candidates, The 1st of these 5 matches bought a fine 2-0 away win at Plymouth and today Johnsons men will be looking to continue there decent form of 3 wins and a draw from 4 matches at ome to an out of form Barnsley side. Elliott looks likely to be out for 6 weks for City which is a big loss, But on the bright side might just mean the likes of Wolves and Portsmouth dont come knocking again for his services. While Bristol Citys home form isnt as good as last seaons they have only been beaten at Ashton Gate 3 times, Sadly the problem in too many draws (8 in total). Start winning at home and they can surge up the table.
Barnsley have began to struggle lately, 3 defeats back to back including defeats against struggling Norwich (4-0) and Southampton (1-0) will have done nothing for the teams confidence and with a below average away record this season they must fear the worse for there trip to Bristol. A few injuries means Barnsley wont be travelling here at full strength either.
There isnt realy too much that seperates these 2 sides in ability i think, but with Bristol City at home and on the back of a decent little run im happy to back my boys again for a win at a nice price fo a home side.
