Opening match on Court 18 and i thought i fancied the outsider, Brianti is ranked 169 compared to Wickmayers 73, But as it turns out Brianti is the slight favourite for this match, Althought Skybet cant seperate them going 1.90 the pair.

Alberta Bianti is the form player coming into this match, 3 wins from 4 in Auckland recently with her defeat coming against a very good player in Caroline Wozniacki. In qualifying she impressed too, with 3 straight sets wins which included decent wins over Vania King and the highly thought of youngster Michelle Larcher De Brito. Brianti was broken just 7 times in qualifying and in total only offered up 9 break points in them 3 matches, which is pretty good in womens tennis. The lower ranked player certainly has the momentum coming into this match.

Yanina Wickmayer may well be ranked 94 places above her opponent here but has already had a defeat against a player rated 1 place below Brianti this season. In 3 slam events she has failed to make the 2nd round, Although the same can be said for Brianti too.

Something has to give in this match and one of these girls will make a 1st slam 2nd round, Im going to go with the form player here and am backing the 2-0 win at 3.0 here, much like my other picks tonight, That will probably be my lot with the opening matches on each court i think.
