WTA - Andrea Petkovic v Kathrin Woerle
Andrea Petkovic is ranked just inside the 400 mark at the moment, that however is a false position as having picked up an injury here last year in the opening round she spent 8 months off the court, She came back towards the end of the season and even managed to win a title on the ITF circuit. In 2007 she had a top 100 finish (100th) and before injury had reacted a career high of 91 this time last year. After the heartbreak at the Australian Open last year she will want to put that behind here with a opening victory here.
Kathrin Woerle is ranked 162 at the moment and has made it to the 1st round here via 3 tough qualifying matches, 2 of which went beyond the distance it the deciding sets winning one 8-6 and the other 14-12. In her other 2 matches played so far this season she is 0-2 with players ranked 130 and 144 respectively. The interesting stat i noticed in her 3 qualifying matches was the amount of times she was broken, 22 in total, ok she broke her opponents on 26 occasions, but 22 shows she might just struggle to hold her serve in this match.
Petkovic holds a nice looking 3-0 lead on the h2h over Woerle although these victories were on clay and carpet so maybe we shouldnt read too much into them, It does though give Petkovic a mental advantage ahead of this match. 3.50 on a Petkovic win seems a fair price from a 2-0 win here tonight.
