NFL - Titans v Ravens
The #1 ranked team in the AFC host the wildcard Baltimore Ravens in what looks to be a close and low scoring encounter.
Both teams boast very good defenses but i think too much stall has been placed on Baltimores. Yes they are a great unit but the Titans defense is not significantly worse, indeed they actually gave up less points in the regular season and were ranked inside the top 10 for yards allowed too. You dont finish 13-3 and 7-1 at home without being a good team and the Titans are just that.
If you compare the 2 offenses you have to give a clear advantage to the Titans courtesy of their excellent running game. I suspect the Ravens will stack up against the run and challenge Kerry Collins and his wideouts to try and beat them. Its a tactic that saw the elimination of the Atlanta Falcons last weekend who had no to their running game being taken away.
I also expect the Titans to do the exact same thing and force the Ravens to throw. Rookie QB Joe Flacco didnt cover himself in glory in his first playoff game last weekend and i dont expect him to be able to beat the Titans this weekend either.
You have to expect defenses to be on top and a few mistakes here or there will probably decide it. However i have to side with the hometeam and their homefield advantage, their significantly more experienced quarterback, their superior running game and the benefits of being #1 seed, an extra weeks rest.
Over even money giving up 3 points seems fair to me and a small staked bet has to be worth a go.
