NHL - Phoenix v San Jose Sharks
Before I start my preview I have to ask you, did you see Osgood’s save on Elias??? That was real quality save, amazing I must say, otherwise I wouldn’t mention it. To top it all off Pens shootout win and Sabu’s trick puck killed me, LOL… Pens Post match interview with Kennedy was crazy. Oh and good old Turco and his mistake that cost bookies fair few quid.
I don’t bet often on Sharks games, still I decided to write this preview. After having watched them last night against Dallas, I couldn’t find a fault in their game play. Forwards coming back to defend, good puck movement in transition all over the ice and most importantly very disciplined – not giving away too many power play opportunities to their opponents. It’s not surprising that they have started this season so strong. Nabokov will be replaced by Boucher in goal for his 4th start of the season, 3 previous starts ended in 3 wins of which 2 were shut outs, he only let in 1 goal and that was last night against Dallas - impressive! Sharks are 1st in Pacific division with 24 points and Coyotes 4th with 10 points, pretty dismal although I have to mention they only have played only 11 games so far.
Sharks are pretty much faultless at the moment, let’s look at the Coyotes then. Coyotes are coming off a good win against Panthers. Mind you Panthers are not exactly difficult team to beat and never will be. Coyotes are a young unit and I think they will struggle to cope with Sharks experience throughout this game. In Bryzgalov they have a good goaltender, he’s 2.68 GAA in 9 games. Coyotes 3-2-0 at home are very inconsistent and after carefully checking their previous games I’ve noticed that, the wins they’ve picked up against decent teams were down to these opponents going through a bad streak or not performing up to their level, one good example springs to mind is Ducks game at the beginning of the season, can’t argue with that, Ducks started season awfully. Coyotes are 15.3% on PP, although I’m sure they won’t get many chances on power play anyway. They are 6-6-0 over all and I class them as below an average team.
I don’t know why bookies are giving 2.1 for Sharks win? It should be more like 1.8. Although just recently they were giving away 2.37 on Sharks win away from home, insane, Sharks won that game too. All in all Sharks experience should prevail against young Coyotes side. Phoenix don’t get outplayed very often, but IMO they will get out shot in this game an lose by at least 2 goals, so another good bet would be -1,5 on the puck line. Sharks are dominating all time series against Coyotes and this shouldn’t change tonight. Good luck!
