WTA - Jelena Jankovic v Flavia Penneta

Quarter final game of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow Russia, between the number 1 Jelena Jankovic and the number 18 Flavia Penneta.

Jelena Jankovic is the current number one in the world, but this match I think she is a less big favourite as the bookies offer. Yes, Jankovic played some good tennis in Stuttgart last week, but the tournement before that she lost in straight sets against Vaidisova. And yesterday she had her hands full against Vera Dushevina (77) 6-7 6-3 6-2. She didn't play well, and if she played someone higher on the rankings she would already be out of the tournement. Today, against that higher and much better oponent in Flavia Penneta, Jankovic will need to improve her game if she wants to go to the semi final.

Flavia Penneta is playing some nice tennis the last couple of weeks, in the first round of the Kremlin Cup she played againts Venus Williams (6) and won with 6-4 2-6 6-4. The odds for a Venus Williams that day were 1.20, today the odds on a Jankovic win are 1.27. Jankovic had some true (or not true) injury problems earlier this week, today that will be a bigger problem if she is a little injured as Penneta isn't injured at all and she is in great form right now!

For this game I expect something similair as the Penneta-Williams game, Penneta to win the first set, Jankovic to fight herself back into the game and take the second set, but the better and fitter Penneta to take the win and the 3rd set. Im kind of surprised to see such high odds on Penneta when she plays a half injured Jankovic. The odds are as high as 4.90! Can you believe it? I put 5 stakes on this bet as I think it is great value and I think Penneta can make Jankovic word hard, very hard for a victory.
