Eircom League - Galway v Cork City FC
Galway are league strugglers, currently hitting rock bottom of league, but they still have theoretical chances of avoiding relegation. With Finn Harps recent financial difficulties, their chances rised even more, especially as other two rivals, UCD and Cobh, are just a point above. Of this bottom trio, Galway is currently in-form team. They have drawn last two games, home with Shamrock and away with Drogheda. Today they will have full team to choose from and will be motivated to at least get a point.
Cork has now nothing to play for. In league they are only 6th, following their 10 points deduction cause of financial problems. Moreover, they have pretty packed schedule in this days, playing Setanta Cup, Eircom league and FAI Cup. In mid-week they had to play full 120 minutes against Derry in FAI Cup Finals just to lose on penalties. Before that game they had league match, and Setanta Cup match. Game every three days at this stage is pretty hard as team has almost 40 games played in this season. It affected the team and today they will have numerous missings. Important ones are Denis Behan, regular attacker and 2nd best scorer; Cillian Lordan, regular defender; Colin Healy, important midfielder. Except this trio, they will also miss Sean Kelly, Alan O’Connor and Darragh Ryan. So, coach options aren't big today. Also, most of the team is pretty tired and this match has no meaning to them.
I don't think Galway has enough strength to actually win today, but you can't really tell. I expect them to aim for point, looking for their chance for counter-attacks. They've scored in last three games, they can do it today too, and their chances for at least draw are higher then the odds show.
