NPC Rugby Union NZ - Hawkes Bay v Bay Of Plenty

Good game to sit down and watch tonight with the Bay up against the Bay in an East Coast derby of Sorts.

Hawkes Bay sit in 3rd the Steamers 5th,this match is a warm up for the Finals that start next week and it is a good one,the Magpies have looked great all season long and excell against sides they are meant to be able to beat whilenthe Steamers play great first halfs before dying in the second.But this match is a good one as both these sides have alot of history against each other,both are former 2nd Division Champs with Northland who played each other alot in the vinals throughout the 80's 90's and 2000's so this game is prety big for each side to keep their form going into the Finals.

Hawkes Bay were pretty impessive last week although going down to canterbury with the score being blown out right at the end of the game but they competed well all being said,while the Steamers blew the Stags off the paddock in the first half before almost handing it back in the second last week but really the Bay have not put 2 halves of footy together all season long and if they did they would be playing against Hawkes Bay equal 3rd not behind them,like I said this game will be good.

I think the Steam,ers will turn up here and with the history between the 2 sides and the peoples attitudes down there towards each other this game always has alot of emotion,Hawkes Bay ain't that far from Tauranga or Rotorua and the people regular come and go from both areas,I should know I lived down there and had mates in both areas the people are very much the same and they all like to hassle each other in a good way,I think the Steamers have a point to prove here and will play a fulll game this week but so will the Magpies...take Hawkes Bay by 12 or less...Good Luck.
