UEFA Cup - Kalmar v Feyenoord
Kalmar FF is a solid team from Sweden if we look at their ranking in their own league. Currently they hold position no.1. They have a big chance to win the domestic league, especially after beating direct opponent Elfsborg last weekend. Elfsborg created chances themselves butt Kalmar’s key striker is the man at the moment. In the domestic league we can conclude that Kalmar scored 57 times and conceded 26. For tonight’s game they will miss out 2 good defenders Tobias Carsson and Stefan Larsson. The team spirit is high as they have a 1-0 lead to defend in order to reach the group stages. Normally Kalmar is a offensive team playing in a 4-3-3 system, butt we did not see this in the away game.
Struggling Feyenoord travels to Sweden hoping to continue their European aspirations, however Feyenoord is still coping with injury problems and collecting points in the domestic league. Today they will miss additional key players, goalie Timmer and striker Tomasson. However Feyenoord’s motivation must be considered for this game as a must win game. This could be their 100th Europen victory in their club History. Last years club Top-striker Makaay hasn’t scored a goal yet since he came back from his injury, and will be eager to score in this game.
Feyenoord still feels that they can advance and will try to score early on, they are the team with more quality than Kalmar. Feyenoord’s defence is poor and Kalmar isn’t going to shut down in defence entirely as their own strength is offence, and are expected to apply swift
