Champions League - Liverpool v PSV Eindhoven
Liverpool have started this season of the league with a 2-1 at Marseille against OM, after being lead by 1-0. Now they return to Anfield and they will like to give the supporters a nice game against struggling PSV. In the Premiership, Pool stand on 2nd place with 14 points from 6 games, tied with Chelsea. After a disappoiting draw at home against Stoke City, in which they dominated their opponents badly with 80% posession and 15 more scoring chances, disallowed goals, not given penalty etc., Liverpool went in the city derby at Everton and easily defeated them by 2-0, both goals coming in the second half. Still, i watched that game and there was no moment in which Liverpool seemed to be losing control, and this is why i expect tonight also.
Liverpool's starting 11 will probably be: Reina; Arbeloa, Carragher, Skrtel, Dossena; Mascherano, Kuyt, Riera, Gerrard; Torres, Keane.
PSV Eindhoven must be the team with the biggest decrease in form and value since last season in my opinion. Selling J. Farfan was A VERY BAD DECISION. He was their main player as what i have seen, with important incursions on the right flank and good offensive moves. For this game, PSV will be missing Affelay, their current most important player. Their starting XI might look like this: Isaksson; Kromkamp, Marcellis, Brechet, Salcido, Pieters; Culina, Simons, Bakkal; Amrabat; Dzsudzsák. Kovermans as a second option in the offensive is not a better pick, as both him and Dzsudzsak are not CL material, but just good local league strikers. PSV have been humiliated in the first match at home by Atletico Madrid with 3-0.
In Eredivisie, they have gathered 9 points from 4 matches, but this including two hard wins at home with 1-0 against poor Volendam and also poor Sparta Rotterdam when playing away. They did defeat Utrecht by 5-1 away, but Utrecht are much poorer than last season. PSV lost their last match in their visit to AZ Alkmaar by 1-0, and tonight things will be much harder.
Liverpool will be putting a lot of pressure on PSV and with their starting 11, i doubt they have a chance to hold. In the last two CL seasons, these teams met four times, and each time PSV failed to concede. Two seasons ago it was, 1-0 on Anfield and 3-0 in Eindhoven, while alst season it was 2-0 on Anfield and 0-0 in Eindhoven. But as i ahve said, PSV are without 2 of their most important players form last season, and i just do not see them scoring tonight. Liverpool will press and press until the ball enters the opponent's net and i believe we can see a 3-0 or 4-0 here. Good luck.
