Tippeligaen - Stabaek IL v Molde BK

Stabaek are hosting Molde tonight in a very important match as regrds the title this year.

Stabaek are the current leaders, with 3 points above Tromso, who lost at home this round, and also 3 points in front of Fredrikstad, who won at home yesterday. STill, they have this game in hand and against poor Molde away form home, it should be a gift and they should go 6 points ahead of the table. Against Fredrikstad they should have no worries, as in case of a tie, they thrashed them both home and away. But Tromso won at Stabaek, and they will have to travel at Tromso in the last round. So, securing a 6-point lead is crucial tonight.

Stabaek at home have a very good record, 7-2-1 with a 28-10 GD. Their current form though is not that bright, as they have only managed one win in the last 4 rounds. After destroying Stormgodset by 6-0, they lost surprisingly at Viking 4-1, but that game did not show the true result, as they had a player sent off in the first half, and it was a walk in the park for Viking. They should be frustrated for their latest defeat, so now they return home with ahunger for victory. Before thrashing Godset, they had punished them in the Cup not long before. Now, Stabaek have defeated Molde in the Cup 3-0, 5 days ago, and now they head to a Tippaeligaen clash.

Molde are currently 11th, tied with Valerenga, both trying to avoid a playout spot, that would probably lead to a duel against Sandjeford from Addecoligaen for a place in the top league next year. But there are still round to be played, and Molde can avoid that situation. Stromsgodset and Lillestrom are only one point above them, and with 4 rounds to go excluding this match, Molde can make something. Their schedule until the end should favor them, as they will be hosting Bodo, a rather weak team away and travellling to HamKam, so there are 4 points from these matches to be gathered with some focus. This is why i believe Molde won't be really motivated to get a good result tonight. Their record away form home is average, 3-4-3 with 18-21 GD. They play very open outside and their last results there show it: 0-4 at Godset, 1-3 at Rosenborg, 3-3 at Viking and 3-1 at Lyn.

Tonight though, their opponents are 90% the future champions and won't give any points easily. Very important striker for Molde, Pape Diouf is not available for this clash, and this is why i believe Molde can score maximum of 1 goal, while the hosts will put at least 2 in their net. 3-1 or 4-1 is the expected score for me and i will take Stabaek to win easily, as having 6 points ahead with 4 rounds to go smells like Gold to me. With games left to be played at home versus Ham-Kam or Valerengen, the final round travel to Tromso should see them as champions before the match.
