Champions League - Chelsea v Bordeaux

Chelsea were back to their awesome best at Eastlands on Saturday. It was billed as the clash of the billionaires, and the darker shade of blue came out on top with some ease. It was of course Robinho who opened up the scoring for the home side, and those who snapped up the 12/1 on offer did well.

However, after Carvalho put us level with a disaster defending moment by City, it was always going to be a matter of how many we win by. Lampard played superbly well, and took his goal brilliantly, as did Anelka who will now be full of confidence, which will be needed with the return of Drogba.

However the starman of the day surely had to be Deco who played the real midfield general role, and gets my first tip of anytime scorer at a very generous 4.5 with Hills, he is as short as 2.5 with Corals, and at that price he must be backed at good stakes.

He's scored 2 already this term, one of which was a free kick in "lampard territory", so it should be noted that it won't always be lamps who takes the free kicks from now on. The little portugeuse will be at the centre of all the good stuff we will play in this game, and with Ballack hopefully making a return the midfield will be back to it's brilliant best even though it will be 6 months before Esien returns.

The french side aren't going to be pushovers, but they hardly come here with either a good pedigree or good current record. 10th in Ligue 1 with only 1 win in 4 they will be no match for the champions elect, and they are not really on full firing terms either with just 6 goals in their opening 5 fixtures.

Chelsea have been on fire and can see some goals in this game, and like last season I can't see us conceding many on these opening group games, so a small wager on a couple of correct scores will pay dividends.
