Kontinental League - Ak Bars Kazan v Barys Astana

KHL is going further, and we are in third round. Once again i will bet on Kazan match, so far i managed to hit only their two games and seems like they are playing one of the most confident hockey in league (along with Salavat), easy to predict in my opinion.

Kazan in first round won over Omsk 4:2, they were losing first period, but then managed to easy win, they are deadly from counters and PP, also when they need to catch up score. Key to not get blown away against them is to take as less penalties as you can, Omsk conceded three goals from PP, and one shorthanded (from counter attack). In 2nd match Kazan easily won against Khimik, 4:0. Outcome of the match was already obvious after first goal. Khimik was even close to scoring, but young goalie Galimov that was between the pipes for Kazan had some great saves. Again Kazan was deadly from PP, but also they looked pretty unmotivated to play such a weak team like Khimik. Especially during the 2nd period. Their line Morozov-Zaripov-Martensson is certainly one of the best in league (the best i think) and they are currently leading the point leaders board: Zaripov (2+4), Morozov (4+1). Martensson in his debut made three assists.

Barys is a new club in league. Coming from Vischya liga they are already used to Russian style of play, and they will be hard nut to crack against some mediorce teams. However, Kazan should handle them easily. Barys defended hard in both their games, against Neftehimik they took win that they didn't deserved, being heavily outshooted. They needed PP2 (two players more) to score only goal. Eventually they win after SO. In 2nd match they've met Lada, mid-table team. Lada also had hard time against them defending all the time, but they managed to win eventually. Mostly because of a lot of PP, although Barys showed great penalty killing.

Here i expect Kazan to take a lead, and then don't have motivation for further scoring. Barys probably won't score here, and will off course defend all the time. One way games usually don't end with high numbers, and i think here will be the same. I expect similar match to Khimik one, maybe with better defending of the guests...
