WC 2010 Qual. Eliminatoria - Colombia v Uruguay
Home favourites Colombia (FIFAno.29) have a crucial visit from Uruguay(FIFAno.22) in a qualification match for WC2010.
After six qualification matches Colombia holds the 3d position in the ranking table. A solid team who stand on a solid position one might say. However we can conclude from these matches that Colombia has difficulties scoring goals. They only managed to score 4 times in six matches. Even with prominent strikers upfront in the likes of Falcao Garcia. Colombia also has 10 players in their squad on yellow cards. They are a solid team, butt will face Uruguay today.
Uruguay did well in recent qualifying campaigns, butt they just could not pull it off. They have improved allot in recent years and have become an attractive and aggressive team. They manage to show attractive and offensive football in the WCQ South-America 2010 so far, butt they haven’t reflected this in their results. The team has so many good offensive players upfront, we all know Diego Forlan, butt in addition to that they have Cristian Rodriguez and Luis Suarez, both very fast and technical.
Uruguay is motivated to win this match. They have a very bad away-record against Colombia, butt I don’t think this will be relevant because Uruguay’s last visit to Colombia ended up in a (friendly) 3-1 victory for the Uruguayans.
Considering Colombia’s troubles and Uruguay’s motivation and rising form I give Uruguay an even chance to compete in the high altitudes of Bogota.
