NRL Rugby - Penrith Panthers v Manly Sea Eagles
With the Storms loss last weekend the Sea eagles now sit atop the NRL ladder heading into this last round clash with a points diff of 8,they should win this game and will have to win it by more than 30 to relistacally have any chance of holding out the Storm for the minor premiership and even if they do win and win well they still have to wait 24 hours to see if the Storm can beat the Bunnies by enought to take the Minor Premiership,I have doubts on either of these things actually happening,Manly have a great record aagainst the panthers and have it all to play for, they have a full strength side apart from the exclusion of Matai in the centres and Lyon, and they know what is at stake here tonight, the real question is not if the Sea Eagles can win but can they win by enough and in that regard I have big doubts.
The Panthers started well against the Warriors last week but were them embarrased by some sloppy play, this week th finals dream is finally over for the Panthers but there are a few players in this Panthers side who will be looking to finish on a high,Wesser,Priddis,Rooney and Puleatua wil play their last game for the Panthers tonight and that will mean alot to the Penrith faithfull as those players were involed in the panthers title run a few years ago and all of them have put their bodies on the line for the Panthers cause over the years and with them leaving expect this gae to be alot about sending them off with a good performance.
Recent results and the Sea Eagles hold the clear advantage winning 4 of the last 6 played between the two sides, however the Sea eagles have lost their last 5 against the Panthers at Penrith and that is a huge worry for them.
The Sea Eagles have it all to play for this weekend but trying to hoist the score up to make their shot at the Minor Premiership might not be the best idae at all, the Panthers have speed to burn and they also have nothing to fear from the Eagles pack as they have a few big boppers of their own to call upon so size wise the Panthers have little to fear from the Eagles,I think this game with so much riding on it is not as clear cut as it might seem, the Sea Eagles are not playing as well as they were earlier in the season and if they come here and try and throw it around without doing the hard stuff first them they could fine themselves down with 10 to go,the panthers have nothing to play for except to say goodbye to some loyal Penrith sons and i would not be surprised at all if the panthers acytually did the unthinkable here today and got one over again oin their highly fancies opponents, tak the Panthers with the 14 points or look for an upset win...Good Luck.
