ATP - Rafael Nadal v Viktor Troicki

This should be a good match. Rafael Nadal will face his first decent opponent in this tournament and even though he should be more than ready for this, the beatdowns he gave to his opponents in the first rounds are now over and now it's time to see if Nadal is the main contender for the win in here or not. Even though he looks to be unbeatable right now, this is the Grand Slam where he should struggle the most and his mini-struggle in the first round against a player out of Top 100 showed it. He has played a lot of tennis in the past few months and he is starting to manage his energy levels better than before, not killing himself to reach a ball in a not so important point.

The opponent who has the task to test him today is Viktor Troicki, who is in great form, and who tested Nadal in the first round of the Australian Open this season, where the Spanish player won by 7-6 7-5 6-1. As I said, Troicki is in great form, having won 7 of his 9 matches on the Summer hardcourt season, with a final in Washington and wins over Roddick and Kohlschreiber. Trociki has a good first serve and then he is very consistent in the baseline, being capable of attacking very well the point, especially on the second serve of his opponent. He has nothing to lose in this match and his fighting spirit is so good that I expect him to not get stopped by the nerves and be a good test for Nadal.

Even though Nadal is obviously much better than Troicki, the handicap is just too big for someone who defeated Roddick two weeks ago, breaking him three times, while serving 13 aces. Nadal will win, but I don't expect him to win with a game difference of more than 7 games.
