Super Rugby League - Hull RLFC v St Helens RLFC
The Challenge Cup final this years sees last years winners in St Helens facing off against Hull, this game is a bit lopsided as to players missing for Hull but as a pinnacle game it should still be a good watch.
I was more intrested in the Total Points market for this game but those odds are'nt out yet but I would say that the over is the way to bet on this game as there were be points scored in fact i'd say more than 50,but as that is'nt out yet we will have to go with the handicap option.
Saints are the form side of the SL Comp and rightly derserve their place here their road to the Final went as such...4th Round vs London Solars...56-0....5th Round vs Warrington 40-34....6th Round vs Hull KR 24-18 and Semi Final vs Leeds 26-16.
Hull made their way to Wembeley this year in this manner...4th Round vs Rochdale Hornets 42-5....5th Round vs Widnes 32-18...6th Round vs Bradford 22-16 and their Semi Final resulted in a 32-24 win over Wakefield.
And so both sides run out onto Wembeley Stadium to face off on Saturday Afternoon to see who can lift the coverted Trophy once again, both side have hoisted it before with Hull having appeared in no les than 14 Cup Finals with 2 Replays and they have won it on 3 occassions the most recent in 2005 intrestingly enough against St Helens 34-8.
Saints also have a proud Challenge Cup record having contested the final on no less than 21 times and have won it 11 times and since the 200's kicked in Saints have appeared in this Final countuing today 6 times and have won it 4 of those 6 attempts. It should also be noted that Saints since losing to Hull in 2005 have won their last 14 Cup Tie matches and have won both Cup Finals since then,in fact if Saints win this match they will equa their own Club record of 21 straight Cup Ties and Finals appearances.
Daniel Anderson is yet to name Saints starting side but he has some pretty good talent to put on the park regardless of who he plays,Saints will be without Cayless injured last weekend and are waiting on Fasavalu but he looks unlikey, regardless Saints still have a pretty amasing side to field today with a Backline that has really clicked into gear of late and a forward pack that still boasts some impressive names who should get the job done.
Hull Sharks on the other side have lost a number of players this season to injury and have lost Tony also in this buold up to ths match, they are also hoping Half back Horne can play but that is'nt looking likely either,Bryne and Carvell have passed fitness tests and should play while King appears to be out, they have a fairly averege side but I doubt they will get close the Saints today.
I could carry on forever about the positives and negatives for either side but really lets be blunt, last week Saints rested 5 first team players and still thrashed Huddersfield and this week have all of those players in for this match,Hull have been close in matches against Saints this season but right now Saints are well in form and to think they will lose this match is unthinkable, they have the side they have the players and they have the motivation and i'm picking them to win by 30 and thats what i truly think will happen...Take Saints to win their 3rd Chalenge Cup in a row...Good Luck.
