Eircom League - Shamrock v Cork City FC
Cork faced Administration because of their financial difficulties. Players have their wages cut for 70%, assistant manager, fitness coach and some of the other staff already left the club, top scorer Dave Mooney has been sold to Reading and another important player Kevin Doyle is about to leave the club. You can't call that good situation, and i think atmosphere in the club is getting worst. Although it was obvious what will happen already few weeks ago, i think that players are now hit by that information. That way shocking 0:1 loss against Wexford Youths in Cup could be explained. Cork eliminated in Semi-Finals from First Division side, not something you see everyday. Other then that Cork doesn't have bigger injury or suspension problems, but i think that high tempo of games every three-four days in combination with recent news could prove crucial. Furthermore Cork had to play UEFA Cup clash with Haka and suffered bitter defeat, then they played Cup games and league game with Bray and players didn't had enough time to rest. Their recent results are descending, while their todays opponent Shamrock is in uptrend after bad start of the season.
Shamrock expected maybe a position for some Euro Cups, but with their results in first part of the season they could be happy to stay above red line. Now, their situation improved a lot, they don't have many absent players anymore and their results improved. Yes, they've lost in Cup to this same Cork just 10 days ago, but Cork since then looks weaker and weaker, and i think this time Shamrock can hold them to at least a draw.
Home advantage should be also plus for Shamrock, but i base this pick on shock for Cork players as long awaited (in negative sense) wage cut came and since then they've lost top scorer. Shamrock is usually a hard nut to crack for Cork, in league clashes this season they both times draw, and Cork managed to beat them only once in last five league games. I think tomorrow we will have only level ball on this match with about the same odds...
