ATP - Frank Dancevic v Nicolas Almagro

Frank Dancevic is a talented Canadian player, who with a good serve and a great movement on court can always be a big threat on an hardcourt surface. Poor schedule selection and an injury, which made him stop for four months sent him off the Top 100, but he should be back there really soon. Dancevic is also a very fit player and he doesn't use to have problems in using his great first serve to dominate his service games. He is tough to break, but unlike most big servers, he has a reasonable return game, which allow him to have some chances at his opponent's serve.

Nicolas Almagro is having a great season, but some injury concerns have took him off the race for a place in the Top 10, at least for now. He is a known world class clay courter, who can actually play well on fast surfaces, due to his serve and powerful ground strokes, however he comes to this match with very little preparation, as his risky game needs matches under his belt to be consistent and that's something he doesn't have right now, having just played two matches on the last two months. He is also a known "big stage loser", as he seems to be great on minor tournaments, just to disapoint in the Grand Slams. His 11-16 record on Grand Slams express that very well.

This should be a close match in the beginning, with both players winning their service games, but then the fitness factor will start counting and chubby Almagro will struggle in that department. He is 0-4 in matches, which go to a 5th set and recent meltdowns (like the ones against Garcia-Lopez in Wimbledon), express how Almagro struggles mentally in these type of tournaments. Dancevic is in better position to win today and he is the valuable play in this match.
