MLB - New York Yankees v Boston Red Sox

The Biggest Series going on right now is the Mets/Phillies but this series is big also,the Red Sox sit atop the American League and are on track for the wildcard should Tampa keep winning but the Yankees are getting close to being gone now and this series for them right now is not a good one,Yesterday the Yankees lost behind Petitie and now face the Red Sox again with times becomming desperate,this was supposed to be the season with the Yankees with the closure of Yankee Stadium were going to do the old stager proud and give her one last look at the playoffs but that is looking more and more unlikey and today could be another tap on the nails on the Yankees coffin.

The Yankees send Ponson 7-4 with an era of 4.67 to the mound today to stop the rot,The Yankees behind Ponson have lost 4 of his last 6 starts and in his last 3 the Yankees have lost 2 of those 3 against the BlueJays and Twins to leave him with numbers of 0-2 with an era of 7.31,Ponson has been better at Yankee Stadium though this season and is 3-1 in his last 4 starts there,Career wise and Ponson has not fared well against the red Sox and career wise is 3-12 with an era of 6.92,he has faced them this season and did'nt last long going only 4 innings whilst giving up 7 earned on 10 hits to leave him with numbers in that game of 0-1 with an era of 15.75.

The Red Sox send Byrd 8-11 with an era of 4.61 to the mound to hopefully keep the Red Sox rolling,The Red Sox behind Byrd have won 5 of Byrds last 6 starts,his lone loss in that span was 2 starts ago against the Bluejays 1-4,Byrds last 3 starts have all been against the Bluejays and he has numbers of 2-1 with an era of 4.03,Career wise and Byrd is 2-5 with an era of 4.90 against the Yankees and this season has faced them twice,he has thrown 12 innings for 9 earned on 14 hits.

Meaningless Shit...The Red Sox are 7-3 in their last 10 games while the Yankees are 5-5 in their last 10 games,the Yankees at home are 2-3 in their last 5 played there and the Red Sox are 6-2 in their last 8 away games and Both sides are 5-5 against one another in their last 10 games played.

The Yankees were hitting well last week but yesterday they were totally outclassed by the Red Sox hitters and with these two starters up today although the run line might look the best option to go over I like the Red Sox to win even more,This series is huge for either Ball club and a win in this series really either drives the Yankees up or sends them crashing if the Red Sox can continuie winning,there are alot of hitters for either side today in this one that have enjoyed great sucess against the opposittions starter in this game today and it does look good on the overs but I have to say I like Byrd as a starter far more than Ponson and although Ponson has been good at home this season he has not fared well against the Red Sox for his entire career and this season has been more of the same,the Red Sox have been winning their games of late while the Yankees have either been winning or losing but no where near as soilid as the Red Sox have and for those reasons I think the Red Sox might really drive a few in today and get at the Yankees again today...take the Red Sox -1.5...Good Luck.
