WTA - Sara Errani v Kostanic

The opening round of the US Open and with a quick glance one match stands out to me as having real value.

Sara Errani had a wonderful July, back to back titles on both clay and hard courts which included 4 victories over higher ranked players. Her form has dipped slighty since with a disappointing show at the 'Olympics' where she was beaten in r64 by Sam Stosur. At New Haven she bounced back from a poor show against Mallory Cecil in the qualifing to defeat the same player as a lucky loser in r32 before losing in 3 sets to 14th rated player Agnes Szavay. Im hoping that her sticky form is behind her and hope she i coming into the US Open fairly refreshed.

Jelena Kostanic Tosic hasnt really forfilled the promise she had as a junior and at 27 now i feel her best days are behind her. She is beginning to slowly slip down the rankings and appears to be more at home on clay than the hard courts. She comes into the US Open on the back of a hard court defeat against Soledad Esperon ranked 190 at New Haven who then infact went on to lose to todays opponent Sara Errani in the very next round 6-3 6-3. That stat alone should indicate Errani should win this match with some comfort.

If Errani can capture her form of July, she should be good enough to win here in straight sets, 1.80 on 2-0 with Paddypower looks a decent 1st round bet in my eyes.
