Twenty20 - Pro40 Div 2 v Pro40 Div 2
When i first eyed up this match i thought Warwickshire win here but having seen the price ive decided to oppose them, Warwickshire are no value at 1.57 and a worse price of 1.50 in places makes Glamorgan well worth a nibble.
I was impressed with Warwickshire in the Twenty20 this year but there Friends Provident form was nothing to shout about. In the Pro40 they are 2 wins (both at home) and 1 defeat (away at a strong Kent side) from 3 matches and if they keep winning will have a chance of pushing Kent and Essex for a top 2 spot or making the promotion play off spot. There top 4 batsmen of Trott, Carter, Troughton and Maddy looks good but they dont have much other that bits and pieces cricketers to follow that and the bowling looks vunerable at times and can get plenty of 'tap' at times.
Glamorgan arent a good side these days in 4 day cricket but in the 1day form they can spring a few suprises. Croft can throw the bat when asked to at the top of the order, Hemp, Powell and talented young Maynard all know how to hold a bat and the keeper Wallace is finding some 1day for in recent weeks. If Gillespie and Harris both play they have a nice new ball bowling pair and Croft and Cosker have plenty of slow bowling experience. All in all its a steady looking Glamorgan side. If Glamorgan can win here and then get a victory at an Essex outground come Sunday they too are suddenly back in the mix for Pro40 honours, So this match is very important to both sides.
The weather forecast in Cardiff looks ok for the rest of the day so we should see the full 40 overs each. Warwickshire at 1.57 isnt a bet i would touch, especially as this match is under floodlights, Glamorgan win the toss, have a bat and post around 225 it will make the 2.50 on offer look pretty big. Small stakes on Glamorgan at a price for me here!!!
