Twenty20 - Pro40 Div 2 v Pro40 Div 2
Derbyshires wheels have come off of late, Clarke has stepped down as captain and last time out in the Pro40 they were skittled for just 60 against Kent. Derbyshire do have a strong looking batting line this season but there bowling looks extremely weak. Being rolled out for 60 will have done confidence no good at all, but tonight at home under lights and live on sky im sure they will want to put in a better performance.
This is a big match for Yorkshire, while everyone imagines the title is simple between Essex and Kent, Yorkshire are not out of it yet, Victory today would throw them back in the mix and with Yorkshire Vs Kent and Essex Vs Kent still to come it could become a 3 way battle. Yorkshire dont appear to have one of the best sides they have ever had these days but in Rudolph and McGrath they have 2 match winning batsmen and a bowling line up with the likes of Gough and Hoggard can and will cause problems in the right conditions. The batsmen may have found a bit of form too, posting over 300 in there last Pro40 match.
Last time Derbyshire were on TV it was against Essex on an absolute belter of a pitch and if tonights pitch is similar we could see plenty of runs, Its a floodlit match this and both sides will be hoping to win the toss and bat and whoever does usually become match favourites. A tough score to chase batting 2nd should be in the region of 220 but if the pitch is good you never know.
Im going to go with Yorkshire here, although wouldnt if they were nearer 1.50 to be honest. I feel that Yorkshire have a far better bowling line up than Derbyshire and with Yorkshire having more to play for they should be good enough to edge this match
