NRL Rugby - Penrith Panthers v Melbourne Storm
The Panthers atoned for themselves last week against the Bulldogs but this week they run into soemthing far harder than what they faced last week,in recent seasons the Panthers have turned up in games when they were not given any hope and this is such a game but whether or not they can mount any challenge to this Storm outfit is another story altogether,The Panthers still have a very strong side and have a forward pack and speed in the backs that most sides would envy but their defence has been suspect all season long and with 3 games left in their season to turn that aroud seems to be long gone, last week they allowed the Dogs to score 18 points and the Dogs are'nt exactly a team to be feared on the scoreboard of late are they? This week the panthers retain the same sid that beat the Bulldogs which on paper looks great but we are yet to see them really put it together for 80mins this entire season and unless they play a flawless game and the Storm don't I doubt they will win.Priddis is back this week which is good for the Panthers.
The Storm steam rolled the Roosters last week and looked to be really hitting their straps, this week Hoffman is out but otherwise are unchanged, the Storm have played some big games in recent weeks and could be a bit off here tonight but I doubt that, the Storm are run like a well oiled machine and for them to slip up is not common and even so in games when they have not played to their potential they have come through mainly because they have so many freakish players that all it takes is for one of them to stand up and they get it done.
Recent results and the Panthers have won 2 of the last 5 but have lost the last 3 staright and their last game against the Storm at Home(But not CUA Stadium) ended in a 18-40 Hiding in 2006.
It is hard to see the Panthers beating the Storm but they could take them close, the Storm have struggled in the air and with Rooney imparticualr they could get something but really the Storm are so well drilled that anything but a good Storm win would be unthinkable, the Panthers have not shown much all season long in defence and against a side who have scored 90 points in their last 3 games against decent sides such as the Roosters,Sea Eagles and Titans and conceeded only 20 in those games it is hard to see the Panthers getting up here,I have to side with the Storm to get the job done but I would'nt view this game as a great one for betting on but I do think the Storm can win and cover albeit just...Good Luck.
