MLB - Philadelphia Phillies v San Diego Padres
15 August 2008

Philadelphia (64-57) at San Diego (47-74)
Friday, 8/15/2008 10:05 PM JAMIE MOYER (L) vs. GREG MADDUX (R)
The Phillies aren't anymore the NL East leaders. They started a road trip against the Dodgers and they lost all 4 games, at the same time the Mets swept the Nationals and they are now the new leaders.
Today they start a series with the lowly Padres and Jamie Moyer will be the Starting Pitcher. The Veteran Moyer has been pretty consistently for a long time, actually he didn't allowed more than three runs in the last 12 starts! On the road Moyer is having a great season with 3.05 ERA and 6-3 and against week teams the Southpaw was superb as the Phillies are 5-1 in Moyer's last 6 starts vs. a team with a losing record.
On the other side the Padres defeated yesterday the Brewers due to another strong performance of their ace Jake Peavy. Today they turn to the veteran Greg Maddux who comes to this game with back to back quality starts in the last 2 outings (Rockies and Giants) where we allowed 3 runs in 12 Innings. But I don't think that Maddux can made three consecutive quality starts, in fact, this season he struggled after two b2b quality starts allowing 6 5 5 and 9 runs in the third game!
I know the Phillies made a terrible series against the Dodgers, but this is a new one, just remember that they are 4-0 in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a losing home record. San Diego when facing a LHP typically struggles this season as they have only 2.8 runs/games and in fact they are 0-5 in their last 5 games vs. a left-handed starter. If we take an even deep look they are 2-9 in their last 11 home games vs. a left-handed starter. I'm betting today in a bounce back for the Phillies in this game.

What makes a bet ?
I’ve often wondered how other guys decide whether to bet or not. I know personally that there are no strict adhereances that I abide by ( there should be……but there isn’t), and I just wondered how you guys out there make a bet, and what makes you bet the amount that you do.
I generally like [...]
