The Reds starts today a new series against the Cardinals and we can say that they come with some momentum. After all they finally won a series against the Pirates after losing the previous 5 series.

Today they will send to the mound Bronson Arroyo (5.44 ERA 10-9) who has been consistent lately. Arroyo after the All Start made 4 quality starts in his last 5 outings, just look to the sequence of runs allowed: 2 1 6 3 and 2. He had back to back quality starts in the last two games against two hot teams: Milwaukee and Houston and this is a clear sign that Arroyo's form is pretty good.

Meanwhile for the Cardinals, Carpenter is still injured and the Cardinals will send today Brad Thompson to the mound. Thompson has three starts this season but hasn't served in that role since July 19, some reports tell that he will be limited to just 60/70 pitches and this could be dangerous for the Cardinals because their bullpen this season is just with 4.13 ERA and ranked in 10th in NL.

I think the Reds have a good chance to win tonight, Arroyo is in good shape, and actually the Reds are 4-0 in Arroyo's last 4 starts vs. a team with a winning record. Also is good to remember that Arroyo already faced the Cardinals twice this season and he had both quality starts, where he allowed just 3 runs in 12 Innings. The Cardinals should face some problems today due the limitation of Thompson so I'm grabbing the home dog here.
